Results & APIs

Institutions which has a configured georeferencing pilot receive a link (example at
http://start.georeferencer.com/test/) with:

  • Spreadsheet with geometadata exports

Spreadsheet table with the produced metadata (including MARC 034 field, bounding boxes, geo envelope, etc). This table is updated live - and it  is possible to download the data in the Microsoft Excel format (XLS) at any time and use the data in additional system.

  • Widgets and statistics

Widgets showing progress of the georeferencing pilot and statistics for work done by individual people. These may be used internally in the institution or publicly for a crowdsourcing pilot. The widgets can be embedded in other websites via HTML iFrame.

Raw JSON data and GeoTIFF generator

Access to raw produced data via OAuth authenticated HTTP requests - this gives a possibility create GeoTIFF for a local scan with georeferencing information from the Georefrencer service.

RESTful API for use with JavaScript

An institution can ingrate a link from their existing websites, online catalog or digital repository for individual maps directly into Georeferencer service with an easy to use API and easy to use link.

API for simple linking to the latest available georeference on the Georeferencer service with a custom institution identifier:

http://[INSTITUTION].georeferencer.com/id/[CUSTOM-ID]

There is also a link to the officially reviewed version of georeference (confirmed by an appointed reviewer from the institution):

http://[INSTITUTION].georeferencer.com/id/[CUSTOM-ID]/reviewed

Then a link to original website of particular map is:

http://[INSTITUTION].georeferencer.com/id/[CUSTOM-ID]/link

To receive a random not yet georeferenced map from the given institution:

http://[INSTITUTION].georeferencer.com/random

and links for implementing intelligent buttons (with different text or graphics depending on the status of the individual map) via JavaScript with JSONP query:

http://[INSTITUTION].georeferencer.com/id/[CUSTOM-ID]/state?callback=foo

This call provides back one of: 'georeferenced' or 'ungeoreferenced'or 'not_found'.
JavaScript can then create different links or buttons with dependency on the status of map - for example do not show links to maps which are not part of Georeferencer. A sample code with jQuery is available at http://jsfiddle.net/aPBRA/3/

For linking into Georeferencer you may display the button georeferencer-banner-link-small.png from the design page.
